Tears cascade
Can’t bring the past back
Facing inevitable metamorphosis in the coming decades
Confessions, apologies made in silence
The rose on the grey cement withers
But for you, there’s bliss in ignorance
As the invisible snake of spite slithers
Seems like everything is wasted
On the hills, in the woods, by the lake
Two souls in one, now one ousted
Blood drips at the tear, what else would you take
Or is that a question you should ask
Betrayal unmasked
Inner conflict
Guilt overwhelming
I was circumstance’s victim
Went through with a decision I didn’t make
Pain. Shock. Disbelief.
In you, the prime feelings
Soothing cupid arrows came as relief
But just pricked at a wound never healing
While bells were ringing
Somewhere faraway
The clock was ticking
Living each dying day
Unseen to the world
Even in pain
Like white in the pearl
Raw and fresh; we struggled the same
Now I see your engraved name
A foreign metal is on my finger
You gave up the chance of playing life’s game
Somehow, I feel, a familiar presence lingers.
